the symposium “breaking global deadlocks” was held jointly by the school of public policy and management at tsinghua university and canadian center for global studies in university of victoria at tsinghua university from december 5 to 6, 2006. the symposium aims to investigate potential win-win initiatives in global problem areas that are currently characterized as intractable. the topics discussed focus mainly on energy security and climate change.
more than 20 international experts and officials from different countries and organizations participated in the symposium, including former canadian prime minister paul martin and former foreign minister gordon smith.
